What is the Pan-African Festival ELEFANTES BAY - Heroes of the Future?
The Pan-African Festival ELEFANTES BAY - Heroes of the Future is a cultural, musical, sports, tourism and youth platform created to mark the progressive opening of Baía dos Elefantes to the public and position Benguela as a meeting territory between Angola, Africa and the diaspora.
When and where does the first edition take place?
The first edition takes place from 17 to 20 September 2026, at ELEFANTES BAY, Benguela, Angola.
Who organizes the Festival?
The official organization is ensured by LUCITUR, Paulo Alves and organizing partners. The artistic component is coordinated by Paulo Alves, with the support of technical and operational teams specialized in the different areas of the Festival.
Why the concept Heroes of the Future?
The concept values youth as protagonists of the next stage of development in Angola and Africa. From the memory of the heroes, the Festival looks to new leaders, students, creators, athletes, artists, entrepreneurs and talents who will build the future.
What is the link between the Festival and the ELEFANTES BAY project?
The ELEFANTES BAY project represents a long-term territorial vision for Baía dos Elefantes. The Festival is one of the cultural, tourism, sports and youth platforms that helps bring life, visibility and public participation to that vision.
Will the Festival be held every year?
Yes. The Festival is born with the ambition of becoming a recurring annual event. The first edition will be a founding edition: ambitious in vision, but prudent, safe and scalable in execution.
What will be the main components of the Festival?
The Festival will have a multidimensional programme, including music, DJs, artists, a run, a family walk, culture, youth, tourism, brand experiences, sustainability, leisure, digital content and moments of community gathering.
When will the full programme be announced?
The official programme will be announced in phases as artists, partners, activities, schedules and operational details are confirmed. All updates will be published through the official website, social media, Media Partners and registered media outlets.
Will the music programme be only at night?
No. Strong musical moments are planned for the evening, especially on the central days of the Festival, but there will also be musical activities and cultural experiences during the day.
Will there be digital coverage or online streaming?
The organization is preparing a communication and digital content strategy, including audiovisual capture, social media, media coverage and the possibility of broadcast or streaming. This component will be confirmed according to the approved production model, technical partners and final budget.
How can I register for the 10 km Cross-Country Run and the Family Walk?
Registrations will be made through the official Festival platform, to be announced on the website and official channels. The organization will announce opening dates, rules, participation conditions, kit delivery, schedules, categories and practical information in due course.
Will the run and the walk have the same format?
No. The 10 km Cross-Country Run will have a sports framework and may include classification, categories and prizes, according to the official rules. The 5 km Family Walk will be participatory, inclusive and non-competitive.
Will there be prizes in the 10 km Cross-Country Run?
Yes, prizes are planned, but the details will be announced in due course after validation of the rules, categories, partners and operational conditions.
How will safety be ensured in the sports activities?
The organization is preparing the technical component with attention to the route, water points, checkpoints, medical assistance, registration desk, participant control, kit delivery and specialized support.
How will access to Baía dos Elefantes be organized?
The organization is working on access, location, parking and mobility information. Complementary solutions may be evaluated with private partners, tourism operators or organized groups.
Will organized transport be available?
The possibility of organized transport is under evaluation, namely through partnerships with tourism operators, transport companies, institutions, universities, organized groups or sponsors. Confirmed solutions will be communicated in due course.
Will there be camping or accommodation associated with the Festival?
An accommodation solution connected to the Festival spirit is being prepared, including the possibility of camping and dedicated areas to stay on site. Information about reservations, rules, prices, safety, sanitary facilities and availability will be announced in due course.

Companies, institutions and brands may participate through sponsorships, technical partnerships, service provision, brand activations, media partnerships, logistics support, tourism, accommodation, transport, food and beverage, culture, sport or other forms of collaboration aligned with the Festival values. Will there be a press area at the venue?
Operational information will be confirmed in the final production phase and communicated to accredited media. The organization intends to create adequate conditions for journalistic coverage, interviews and image capture, according to the final venue structure.
Will photo and video capture be allowed?
Yes, subject to accreditation and respect for capture rules, safety, image rights, organized areas and guidance from the organization.
